Australian Apprenticeships is the term used to cover both traditional trade type Apprenticeship positions and Traineeships.

Australian Apprenticeships are a great way to build a career. They are now available in more than 500 occupations nationally, so no matter what industry you are interested in working in, Australian Apprenticeships provide an attractive training option.

Australian Apprenticeships combine practical work and skills development with structured training to provide you with a nationally recognised qualification and the experience you need to get the job you want.

The training is practical and interesting and can be delivered on-the-job, off-the-job, or a combination of both. Off-the-job training is done with TAFE colleges, business colleges, or other approved training providers.

The majority of Australian Apprenticeships are now competency based rather than time based thereby allowing you to complete your training sooner provided that the set industry standards are satisfied.

Australian Apprenticeships can be full-time or part-time. The length of an Australian Apprenticeship depends on the industry, the specific occupation or trade, any previous training undertaken and how quickly you become competent in the skills required. Generally, Australian Apprenticeships can be started at any age and do not require any entry qualifications.

Australian Apprenticeships are covered by formal agreements known as Training Contracts. These contracts set out the training and supervision an employer must provide for the employee, as well as the employee’s obligations as an Australian Apprentice. Training Contracts are a legal requirement that underpins the Australian Apprenticeship Program and must be completed and signed by both the employer and the Australian Apprentice immediately after commencing an Australian Apprenticeship.

This training is delivered with Victorian Government funding.

Employment Focus encourages trainees with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.
