What kind of work can you do?
There
are many different types of interesting industries and services
that you can take part in when you volunteer. These are just some
of the
recent activities that participants got involved in:
- Caring for people
- Caring for the environment
- Caring
for our heritage
- Caring for the community
How long will you take part in Work for the Dole?
Usually it will
be for six months. Normal working hours are between 9.00 am and
5.00 pm, two days a week.
If you’re aged:
- 18-20, 24 hours each fortnight
- 21-39, 30 hours
each fortnight
- 40 and over, 12 hours per fortnight

What help will you get?
If you are on Newstart and Youth
Allowance,
you’ll
get an extra $20.80 a fortnight to help with your transport and other
costs.
What else do you need to know?
All participants in Work for
the Dole, including volunteers, will need to enter into a
Newstart or Youth Allowance Preparing for Work Agreement.
