Employment Focus saw a Multi disciplinary Holistic Outreach Model as a method of delivering innovative, effective, flexible and highly responsive services to jobseekers with individually diverse needs.

This approach reaches out with intensive assistance, offered in areas of information, assessment, counseling, guidance, personal development, volunteer skills training, work experience, job matching and job search training, together with referral and backed up by an extensive network of external cooperative support services.

  • Job Search Support – young jobseekers with unclear or unrealistic job goals or with additional support needs are identified at the first interview. We provide career guidance resources, referral to local service providers or suitable complementary programmes and arrange follow-up.
  • Intensive Support – young jobseekers who are not ‘job ready’ after Job Search Training are given additional assistance and support including: ongoing development of job search skills; career counselling; training; referred to complementary programmes, work experience or voluntary work.
  • Customised Assistance – after six months of Customised Assistance, those young jobseekers with good short term prospects of employment stay in an intensive programme of Active Job Search or short-term assistance prior to Active Job Search. Jobseekers with more difficult circumstances are connected into a longer-term strategy.
  • Complementary Programmes – Our capacity to quickly connect job seekers with relevant assistance is enhanced by our member organisations’ delivery of a wide range of State, Local and Commonwealth programmes and our web-based resource which enables consultants to immediately identify relevant programmes.
